I recently relistened to this episode with Michael James Scott who plays the Genie in the Broadway production of Aladdin. This conversation was recorded at the height of the pandemic when Broadway was still shut down. Michael and his team released a socially distanced Christmas album to bring light and joy to a a dreary holiday season and he even performed songs from it live in a socially distanced outdoor concert. I love hearing Michael's joy through the darkest days of the pandemic and also hearing about how he adapted to a new working style. With the worst days of COVID behind us, I think it's worth reconsidering how we adapted to the pandemic and the lessons it taught us. -

Heath Racela

Michael James Scott has performed in Broadway shows like The Book of Mormon and Elf, but he is best known as Genie from Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, having played that role on Broadway, in the West End, in Australia, and touring North America. He joins Heath to discuss his new Christmas album "A Fierce Christmas," which calls on his gospel roots and mixes in Broadway and funk, his upcoming socially distanced outdoor concert, and his time playing Tigger and the Queen of Hearts at Walt Disney World.
