Sincerely not trying to pick a fight, but I wondered if you'd listened to the Maintenance Phase episode about Michael Pollan? I found it demoralizing how chill he seems to be about platforming someone like Joel Salatin without any concern for his white supremacist views. (Honestly, I'd love your take on most of their episodes!)

I haven't heard it, but I'll have to check it out. I only know Salatin through Pollan's work and some other similar films I've seen about regenerative ag but didn't know about his political views. That's disappointing!

Yeah he's a self-identified "Christian Libertarian" which is such a weird thing to be! I guess it lets you pretend you care about personal autonomy while also writing unhinged things about abortion? Anyway, he recently said:

"I would suggest the black indigenous and people of color, who feel America offers them no opportunity should give up all modern conveniences and return to their tribal locations in domicile."

Oh wow, I had no idea. Thanks for flagging that for me!

Oh no problem! It's so stressful how much overlap there is between the "grow your own food" folks and the "COVID isn't real" folks!

I've definitely seen the overlap too, but I like to see it as growing your own food or knowing where food comes from is more of an apolitical or at least nonpartisan issue. With so much else polarized these days, I'm encouraged that there are some places where people on seemingly opposite ends of the spectrum can actually see somewhat eye to eye. I'm willing to see our similarities, but also won't stand for things like racism or homophobia.

Thanks Jeff! I'm glad you found something helpful in this. In my opinion, the best place to get an overview on Dr. Gundry is when he was a guest on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast or reading The Plant Paradox. It's been life changing and eye opening for us!

I appreciate your support, whether as a paying member or a free reader! Just glad you're getting something out of being here :)
