When I read Austin's book, there were MANY revelations like that. He refers to it as the "illusion of choice" but it's really just selling a very similar product based on the perceived price point of an audience: a Whole Foods customer and a Dollar General customer want different peanut butters, so why not market a Cadillac and a Chevy version of both and price them accordingly. It's a wild read and a good conversation!
